St. Maarten’s Jasmin Halley was named Best Outfielder of the tournament.
St. Maarten’s Under-12 Girls Softball team advanced to the semifinals of a tournament in Guánica, Puerto Rico, marking their best international performance to date after not making it out of preliminaries last year.
The teams included St. Maarten, Guánica and Guayama from Puerto Rico, Brazil, Mexico, and Curaçao.
St. Maarten opened with a 6-1 victory over Guánica, led by strong pitching from Raschelly Salomé. They secured a semifinals spot after a close 6-5 win against Mexico, thanks to Kayleigh Heinze’s pitching.
The unbeaten run ended with a 3-6 loss to Brazil, where defensive errors proved costly despite T’iana Beauperthuy’s solid pitching. In the semifinals, they faced Guayama, losing 2-6, which concluded their impressive tournament run.
The semifinal finish highlighted the progress of St. Maarten’s softball program. The management team included Elmora Aventurin Pantophlet, Manager Fabiana Beauperthuy Richardson, Head Coach Dimitri Beauperthuy, Pitching Coach Randall Salomé, and Trainer Debbie Van de Kolk.
In addition to Halley’s accolade, Radhika Gurbaxani Pinedo and Beauperthuy were recognized as the team’s Best Batters.
The team consisted of Nehaila Jederon, Mak’aya Ortega, Saceerdra Vlaun, T’iana Beauperthuy, Raschelly Salome, O’ceane Beauperthuy, Kiyona Ryner, Radhika Gurbaxani Pinedo, Erika Morales, Dijaelee Servania, Jasmine Halley, Kayleigh Heinze, Kimaya Anselm, and N’Hailey Dasent.
